Vulnerability Is Key

The Lord is so good! Training camp just wrapped up and I am amazed by what the Father has to say to His children. The love and community He poured out over the weekend was far beyond anything I ever thought possible.

As I boarded my first flight to Atlanta for training camp the enemy began to whisper in my ear that I wasn’t good enough and that I didn’t belong on the World Race. These thoughts continued even up to the time I went to bed that first night. I looked around at my squad members, they instantly felt like home, and thought to myself, “They are so much more qualified than you.” what a terrible thought to have about oneself. The Lord quickly spoke to my heart and reminded me that He called me, no one else but Him had called me. On the second day of training camp, we had team time to do an emotional check-in, if you don’t know me, emotions are not something that I’m very open with, the whole squad began to share how they were feeling and everyone said they didn’t feel qualified. So often we think that we are alone in our thoughts and feelings until we open up with our community and find that in all of our differences we are all feeling the same things. If we hadn’t opened to one another at that moment there’s a huge possibility that myself and others may have given up on what God called us to.

I took so many things away from training camp but one of the biggest and possibly my favorite is, vulnerability is key in community. It can be a scary thought but with a like-minded community love and kindness abounds in vulnerability. Your community should be relieving to your soul. I love my squad and community endless and it’s just the beginning!

“Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,

Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.” Proverbs 16:24
